Using stock gauges with an engine conversion
Is it possible to get the original rev meter and speedometer to work with a CA18DET engine and gearbox?

Yes..
Needs a cable drive for the speedometer (I've seen an ae86 cable stuffed into a CA18 gearbox working), but without a different ratio gear it will show the wrong speed for sure. Tachometer can be used with ECU signal with a tach signal booster. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Hi Jezza, do you have a link to the Omex part?
I've been looking at the speedometer, it seems I need to buy a mechanical speedo drive for my gearbox (which doesn't seem easy to find). I'll also need to buy a cable. My diff is a 4.6 so i'll need to get a gear to match. It all seems like a pain but hopefully worth the effort |

You can also buy a part that lets you set the speed yourself+cable, but forgot the name. Will look it up.

They ment to convert a + square signal to a - peak signal. So if your Nissan Ecu got a digital output, as in square and +, the omex converter works very well! 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Omex converter is 15 gbp.. look for Omex Tachometer driver, you'll find it in webshops. Emerald also sell a tach driver, but it's 35GBP IIRC.
You can make these converters yourself (I have built quite a few), but even I will no longer invest time and effort into something that can be bought for 15GBP. Thats a properly fair price and you get production quality too. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

If all else fails, you can send Omex an E-mail directly and inform them of what you need. [email protected]
