Vacuum Sensor/line hook up help.
Sorry for not saying so before but my AE86 was a USDM GTS not a SR5.. The Japanese engine I got did not come with any of the VSV or A/C stuff. The ones I have pictures of are ones from my GTS that was removed when the GTS Engine was pulled.. The A/C Idle up ( Right side of the picture ) still has the plug in the engine bay. However the VSV ( Left on the picture ) has no place to plug into now? The plug for it went with the GTS engine harness.. Do I need to rewire something or still contact the person you mentioned above even though I am not using a Sr5?

Also an update on the cranking and firing of the engine.. I have found out its the pickup coils in the distributer and long story sort I am going to need a whole new distributer for other reasons. So when I find one for a 4ageu then that might fix that problem...

Im going to try and reg for that forum so I can check that out though.

Vacuum Sensor/line hook up help.
The GTS charge loom should have these presumably. The VSV on the right is an aircon idle up and on JDM cars is mounted on the front of the right hand side (as you sit in the drivers seat) strut tower. The loom plug for this comes from the branch leading to the alternator.

The VSV on the right is a general idle up and on JDM cars has a loom plug situated low down in the right hand side of the engine bay near the standard airbox. In fact it actually mounts on the airbox in a JDM car
The photos in the post mentioned above are reproduced here with identical numbering. The throttle body you have may vary slightly. GTS ignitor/distributor wiring differs from JDM. Look for Will Drift for foods posts in the wanted to buy column for pics.

Picture 2 ? goes to the idle up solenoid you have asked about in picture 4 (with the green plug), specifically the end nipple, then the inner nipple line goes to the airbox on an AE86, or the I think to the intake tube on an AE82.

Picture 3: 4 & 5 are coolant feeds for the waxstat. 1 & 2 I think are for the power steering( block these off), 3 goes to the aircon idle up solenoid (picture 5, specifically the F [vacuum] outlet), the other outlet on this valve (e) goes to the airbox.

There is no point bothering with the two idle up valves in 4 & 5 unless you have the rest of a functioning idle up circuit. On an AE86 this is incorporated into the loom that includes the headlights and charge system from the fusebox in the engine bay around to the junction box in the drivers footwell, then across the car through various diodes within the dash loom to the ECU. Earlier 4AG AE86's then had an idle up computer (a black plastic box slightly larger than a ciggie packet) which clips on top of the ECU. I think later looms incorporated this within the ECU, and I think this was the case with AE82 twincams (?)

Having a functioning idle up circuit makes the car a lot nicer to drive in traffic. But you can get by without it.

Vacuum Sensor/line hook up help.
Quote:Now Last But not least. ( I hope ) I also see that just after a black
square plug with one wire in it ( Black with Red Stripe ) has been cut...
Where does it go? Its around the Igniter part of the harness..

I have this plug on my car. The red/black wire comes the loom under
the fuse/relay box, and is a switched power supply. That is, it has 12 volts
coming from the fuse box end when the ignition is "ON". As I recall. it runs
to one of the centre pins on an accessory plug located next to the ECU.
This accessory plug is also connected to the wipers, screen washer and
variable resistor.

This pic (#3) is a perfect example of what you should NOT do with
your unused idle-up tubes. The P/S idle-up valve allows air to pass from
one of those tubes to the other when the steering is on the lock stop. If
you loop them as shown in the pic, air will be constantly flowing from one
to the other, and you will have a big uncontrolled air leak around the
throttle blade. Your idle will be permanently raised, and you will not be
able to adjust it down.

Always block both tubes off separately if you don't have P/S.

No problem. Not a write up, just cut and pasted my answer to another guy from the other forum with his photos you couldn't see.

In Australia it is common to run cars without any of these as not many people have the charge/headlight or under dash looms.

As Jondee notes, you see all kinds of strange bypassing of VSV's.
