AE86 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor
Hi all,
I've big problems with my idle and i can't get it lower than 1200rpm.
I cleaned the Idle Air Valve Under the TB, I have not vacuum leaks and when I block the small hole of the TB that control the idle, the idle is still at 1200rpm even with the screw totally down.
Now I guess it is my Coolant Temp Sensor of my TPS.
My Trueno came from Japan with a red top swap and I would like to check the coolant temp sensor but i don't know witch of these two sensors it is.
Can you help me please.

I'd expect the coolant sensor to be at the back of the head, but there are 2 (1 for the cluster, 1 to ecu), and I forgot where the other one is.

Also check your throttle valve adjustment, there is a screw adjustment on it with which you can set the valve opening @ closed throttle.

On European 4AGE, lower sensor is for ECU (green), upper one is for cluster.
AFAIK Japan engines have same green one on back of their heads.

The screw is completely screwed and my idle is still high.

Have you set the TPS? The sensor has to be adjusted right else the ECU won't go completely into idle mode. You'll find the procedure in the manual.

Also make sure you don't have any leaks in the plenum and that your throttle body flap is closing all the way. After some decades it can use a good clean.

With the idle adjustment screw fully in your engine isn't supposed to run as there's not enough air to get even to 500rpm

I've already adjusted the TPS.
I have no leaks.
I've putted my finger on this big hole (marked in blue) and the idle drop down and the part (marked in black) has been like blowed.

Sounds like the idle speed control valve under the tb is stuck open, It´s like a thermostat, and they sometimes break. Funny enough the picture you are using looks like its my tb, when I had the same problem in 2010. Cleaned it many times, didnt change a thing, got a different throttle body, fixed it.

I'm searching another TB.
