Water temp crisis, please suggestions
Has this happened to anyone else before.

Possible Reasons?? how to fix??

Had a Autogauge watertemp gauge installed, was working perfect for 12-16mths something like that , then all of a sudden stopped reading correct, would only go up too 50deg c .

Not "read correct" and stop at 50, when water was warm the needle hadnt moved. So its delayed type of thing.

Ok its a 10$ ebay heap of shit, so i thought might aswell shell out on a brand name item.

Enter Speco sport comp , some problem .

I got a new gauge and sendor send to me just incase, i know these things can be sensitive and dont like being dropped . Still same problem with new stuff

HMMM what now, new gauge and new sendor, all new wires (too eliminate faulty wires) excact same thing.

Ive sinse been able to find out that the gauge always reads 30deg less then it should. Water at 80 then gauge says 50, water at 90 then gauge reads 60.

Any ideas people, ive tried all locigal theories but dont let that stop you throwing ideas at me. Ill try just about anything once or twice.

Any help id greatly appreciated as always.

I might post this on a few forums, more responses that way.

can only be a gauge problem if you have tested a new gauge wiring and sender against the actual water temp,i think most gauges are supplied with cheap rubbish senders now, even the senders that come with defi gauges go bad quickly

Seems a little weird that 2 different brands of gauges and sendors read exactly the same thou doesnt it.

I would hate to spend another $100 ona different one just get the same result.

Have you checked the operation of the gauge by dipping the sensor
into boiling water ?? If it works OK off the car, you could have a problem
with circulation... low fluid level... air locks ?? It would be unlikely for
two gauges to have exactly the same fault.

Make sure your thermostat, waterpump, radiator cap is working. Also see if there are any leaks on the block.

Water flow isnt the problem, its not running hot or cold, the water temp is fine, its a sensor/gauge problem of some sort

Tried 2 different spots.

The gauge now reads to 50 then stops.

I think ill just let the haltech take care of it when i get it in, im over worrying about it now.

Thanks to all with advice, its just a curse in the car. Cant be fixed

Make sure you check for leaks. After that start with the radiator car, and move up to the more expensive things.
