I am making ~150hp on these 7105137 260° 252° catcams. But they only really starts pulling above 5000rpm. I am running CR ~10,7 which could be better for these cams. Remember that you cannot exploit aggressive cams without a high CR.

something with your intake/exhaust and or head is off then as you should produce good power earlier..

you do have cheaper and good options... as mentioned before there are still TRD springs available which work with the lift and OEM retainers cost around 10$each, catcams are 8€ each if I remember right... and lifters you can get a set from Passracing for 168$ or so but as mentioned before you better measure right and don't need to adjust later on 'cause you can't. or go for those arrow lifters

I think 1NZFE lifters cost more than 15 euros each (240 euros for 16)

PatrickAE86 Wrote:Hey there,

I'm (re) building my 4a-ge and i want to put some other camshafts in it.
but what kind of cams would be good?
i'm going to incrase the compression ratio and do some headwork + itb setup.

what cams would be good for this one? i know about changing the valve train..

but what duration/lift?... idle and normal street driving kept in mind please Wink

thanks in advance

First.... the BS in this thread is OVERWHELMING...

second... DON'T believe ANYTHING without a dyno sheet to back it up!

third... names mean nothing!

ABOVE is my opinion..... BELOW are JUST FACTS!!

4AGE - smallport head with proper and precise porting.

exhaust bowl...

exhaust port as it leaves the head...

10.75 to 1 measured compression ratio(included the gap between the piston and cylinder wall, down to the first ring) stock Euro pistons, with the combustion chambers lowered to 33cc - this was done by having the head cut along with the porting above

Web Camshafts... compare these to many of the "264" type camshafts with similar duration when measured @ .050" - 226 degrees

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - What camshafts would be nice?]

145hp and 112#/ft of torque measured @ the wheels. Numbers measured @ the crankshaft would be about 170hp and 134#/ft of torque. These #s are a bit low, since the cams will make power to 8400 rpm. Right now I have it LIMITED to 7500 The powerband is in excess of 4500 rpm (from 3000 rpm to 7500)

Oh... the only non stock mechanical parts are valve springs - TRD type. Wrist pins - lightened aftermarket type and the camshafts and timing pulleys. The crank, rods, pistons, rings, valves are all standard Toyota parts
