What happen when you try to drift with an FWD
A Skandinavian flick, is when you first steer the wrong way into a corner, brakes hard and then trow the car the right way. It can be done in speeds over 200 km/h even on gravel... Looks very wicked, but with the right driver its the fastest way through a curve.

I have a video of a guy in a Renault Clio Maxi, Jean Ragnotti I believe, that would embarass every single one of you in a drift competition.
Its all about weight shifting and getting a car to turn in. After that, you need RWD for showpoints.

Any real FWD racingcar is seriously biased towards oversteer and driving them is a handfull.

A pedal to steer the rear

I think the scandinavian flick can best be compared with feint drifting, only you dont have the added help of rear wheel power to brake traction.
Tiff Needell doesnt even brake, its just steer opposite direction of corner, quickly steer in correct direction after releasing the throttle. Probably doesnt work unless you have a lot off speed.

Releasing throttle means braking on the engine...same thing.
Everyone who ever tried to drive a FWD fast has a second nature for this technique. Its the only way to use that front grip optimally and get the car pointed in the right direction. From there to wild oversteer is just one step.

A pedal to steer the rear

Dorito86 Wrote:Actually, I don't think he was even trying to drift. If you look closely at the replay, he's still on the exit of the left hander when he probably notices the scooter. He panics, climbs on the brake -> oversteer and dosn't lift off until he's one with the rock.
No. This is a Peugeot 206. In standard trim, it has a serious oversteer issue when releasing the throttle when on the edge in a turn. Should really be much more neutral for a small city car.
Now, if you lower it and put in a harder suspension like the Peugeot Sport Evolution II (2.5-3x as hard as standard), it suddenly loses the edge. Of course, then it's hard as a rock, but damn I love it. You can clearly feel on which part of the edge it is. ;-)

Anyone notice the guys on the scooter? Methinks they will need to change pants when they get home.
