Whining noise HELP PLEASE
Hi all,
I really need help to find this f*%king noise.
I can ONLY hear this whining noise between a range of speed (70 km/h -100 km/h).
I don't know if it comes from the gear box or the rear axle.
For information: I've a new kit of bearing and Crownwheel and Pinion 4.7 .
All is really nice setted up.
Please help me to find this noise. Maybe from the gearbox ?
Thanks in advance.

If you are sure rear axle is setted up good, than it is gearbox.
But surely sounds more like an rear axle.

I bought weir performance r&p.
Yes I use solid spacer.
What I don't understand is that the noise is only a a small range of speed.

4TH gear only?
Absent except when between cruising & light acceleration, with a little higher whine accelerating?

4th is direct drive, so less competing gearbox sound lets you hear the rearend more.
R&P will be whiny when not setup right & depending on which way it's out, can make more or less sound the heavier they are loaded.

So what!

My R&P bearing busted once, messed up the R&P clearence (or backlash or whatever you call it in English) and the noise it started to make was gradually increasing from about 30kph. The car was undrivable above 80. Id say your problem comes from the gearbox rather then the rear axle...

Yes that's exactly that.

I will try to find a gearbox of my friend and change it to check if the noise is still there.
