Why can't we delete our own posts?

Nah, i don't intend to be a moderator, but deleting would be nice.

Widar ahs a good point, but I think that the admins here are active and reliable, so I see no need to allow ppl to delet their own posts. I think when this forum grows even larger (and it will) , it could get quite messy.... also ytou want to ensure that when people use the search function they find all the posts related to the topic they find. This is also whats so nice about the atatchment mod, wich I encurage everybody to use, because you never open up an old topic and the imiges have been removed from the host. So my vote gous to "gaps are bad".

I just don't see what "holes" in the forum this little thing would create?

If people themselves can delete double posts and so on there will be less work for for the (evil ) admin and the moderators (would be nice to be one, tho ).

Well, what I meant is that I've had experience on other forums where people could delete their own posts some people got either angry and just deleted all their posts or they made a stupid mistake and were ashamed of that and removed their post.

The effect was that topics did not contain the original posts on which other people replied. In the end you got very confusing topics in which people just started reacting on something which wasn't there.

well, what i saw in our 323gtx.co.uk forum, that when you post something, you can delete the post when you hav done that, but, when you post, go to the other place of the forum, then come back, you can't do a thing to that post...
the same is with the "edit" thingie...

I don't see the need for such an option. For me the best solution is the simple one.

Double post? Edit it and write *double post*.

That way, you avoid complexity in terms of rules and you avoid mistakes that may result in deleting usefull posts or messing up a whole discussion.

It would be fine if user could delete a topic which he created and nobody posted there yet. And user would be able to delete his post in a topic if it is still the last post.

I've reproduced it.

As long as no-one posts in the topic you can delete your own post. Whenever someone adds a new post you can't delete it anymore. Don't see a problem enabling delete anymore.

And changed the permissions now.
