Wich camshaft.. everlasting question !?
4AGE bluetop.
Autronic SM4 SAECU, Higher compression 11:1... Stock intake without T-VIS, possible stock intake with larger butterfly (7MGE 60 mm) or ITB (AE101). The goal is not power peak, must is constant power trough certain RPM band, and no more than 8500 rpm peak. And the car must be possible to drive daily (with some compromise ) And 160 HP at crank is must .. What camshaft and valve setup to put in !? To go for oversize valves (1-2 mm) or not ? What degree and lift cams ? Any recomandations or even expirience would be better .. Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

Wich camshaft.. everlasting question !?
I´m a bit suspicious to talk about this because i am a TODA fan. If your goal is 160 hp, I would sugest something arround 264º. There are a lot of brands making kams for the 4age (kent cams produce them too), but, as I stated before i´m a Toda fan, so i recomend them.
Toda is known not by the peak power but making power through a large rpm band. HKS is good too, but a bit more high ended. A good engine diagram, worked head, valve springs... etc should do it. I saw you're using a stand alone ecu, should be easier. Have you seen Bill Sherwood's page? http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm#150hp Cump´s Filipe Oliveira |

I will try 272/8.1 lift or similar cams + ITB and good header.
You can go even over 11CR with big cams. |

Wich camshaft.. everlasting question !?
With Autronic SAECU the options are endless... the lift can be more than 8,5 (what stock ECU "can" handle), and oversized valves are no problem..
But what concrete cams setup shoud give wanted results.. that we don't do overkill with to agressive cams.. Any difference for choice of cams for stock intake and AE101 ITB's ? Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

Wich camshaft.. everlasting question !?
For 160 hp I would say a couple of 272º 8.1 lift (HKS for example).
Stock intake manifold, stock ECU if you can change the rev limit. Plus exhaust and a nice compression ratio, and a little head work and you should be fine! To compensate the lack (or excess) of gas, use a piggy back system to make things simple. Best regards |

Quote:To compensate the lack (or excess) of gas, use a piggy back system to make things simple. Now that you mention it. Anyone tried piggy backs systems? Even in a stock engine? How was it running? Cump´s Filipe Oliveira |

Many people have used it and it works. Best regards |

Wich camshaft.. everlasting question !?
272 degree without complete exhaust etc is impossible. The torgue you need requires lift. Lift requires valve mod. So its a bit harde then you think,
160hp is possible but you either do a few mods and you might reach 160 at the crank or you go full mods and then you might as well hit 170-190 hp Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

A see everybody recommend 272 degrees, but ~8 mm lift sems to low (for 160-170 HP)... to go for 9-10 mm lift. Would it damage the engine and become useless for normal driveing (high idle, absolutely no tourqe at low rpm) Higher compression, Standalone ECU, full open and calculated exhaust, open intake, valve job, head job we got. Now is the question what cams to put in and to go for ITB or leave stock intake ... Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

Meshin, I recommended 8.1 lift because with more lift you must use underbucket valve shims ($$$).
