My favourite is the 106 GTi / S16...
I owned 3 of them and my last one reached 170bhp and 165N.m with some mods... The more RWD FWD car i know... the rear end is really tricky and fun... Keeping the AE86 alive! |

Changed the thread to a polling one, so take your vote I added the most popular choices, Excl. the SUnbeam, which i think is to rare to be called a gti.. Miata, not really a GTi, but sure fits the bill

I love GTIs
1. Honda Civic ek9 (if only there were available LHD cars ) 2. VW Golf II GTI 16v (got one, loved it, now sold) 3. Renault Clio (posibly consider this as my next car, if only...) ...above all Honda Integra Type-R DC2. But its not GTI (so not in list). And I really consider Integra as my next car, but... ...in Latvia we have JDM Impreza boom Just 2 years ago we had few JDM Imprezas with LHD conversion (RHD cars cant be registered in Latvia), now we have several companies that offer RHD conversions. And Integra isn't cheap GC8 WRX STI Type-RA final price is just some 20% higher |

Has to be the CRX. Always wanted one as a kid, owned one for a short time and it felt great. Friend had one with a frankenstein B20vtec engine, was more fun then his current 250whp NA ITR. Guess its nostalgia.

Always liked the Proton Satria GTi. Sure, it's basically just a Mitsubishi Colt but it comes with bolt-on arch flares, a rear hatch spoiler and the handling was tuned by Lotus. How can you go wrong?

The Satria is cool, there is only one Satria GTi in Croatia AFAIK.
I personally don't like French cars so much, but 106 Rallye,Clio Williams,205 GTi,309.R19,R5... The proof they can make good cars. I always loved the Autobianchi A112 Abarth, since i was a 10 year old kid and driven one. Especially the 70HP version. Small 1050cc engine, with one twin carb, abarth machine work and not so bad stock suspension are the reasons most of them got in the hand of auto-slalom crew in Croatia. The Good RWD Compact could've bin the Kadett C City ,but the only stock engine in that car was standard 1200cc engine with 55-60hp(N or S model). They are often gifted with C20XE or 20S CIH swaps, producing about 150hp+ for XE and about 100-150hp with CIH engines(depends on mods) on their 750-800 kg. Also one of my favorite Italian hot hatches at the time is the Fiat Ritmo/Strada TC(105hp in 1600cc edition and 125 or 130hp in 2000cc DOHC edition) equipped with 4 Dellorto carbs in 125 or 130hp edition. Too bad the cars suffered too much of corrosion problems, and the fact that the cars were first cars ever built by robotized manufacturing. I always adored the EE9 Civic,in fact,i even more like the EF Sedan with B16 engine swap. Also honorable mention,Daihatsu Charade GTti. Small FWD Turbo car, with 3cyl DOHC 12V engine and LSD producing around 103hp if i remember correctly. |
