Zenki corner light comparison

Hi guys, I just took apart some european spec corner lights with the black blinker covers, and also a JDM spec corner light with clear orange blinker cover. Found some interesting difference underneath the skin.. so I thought I'd share..

As you can see in the following pics, the euro lights have a small reflector plate that keeps the city-light to the front of the housing.. The JDM one does not have this.. I plan to remove it on a pair (LevinGT already did this on his old car), and fit slightly more powerfull bulbs..

The blinker covers on both types of housings are made from the exact same mould..the black covers have the exact same profiled ribs on the inside as the clear orange covers.. Might be a nice subject for a little casting and moulding project..

I broke a tiny bit off the clear plastic on the better of the 2, but I think it can be glued back on just fine.. You really need to fiddle with how long you leave them in the oven to get the glue just soft enough.

And the difference is that the JDM is cleaner? >

I already noticed sometime that when Mux changed his cornerlights to JDM the citylights were different. This explains it I guess.

Actually, the JDM one (which I got from malaysia) was the dirty one...I must have switched them by accident. The reflective paint was all messed up, I could wipe it right off. No problem though..I'll just paint them in silver metallic..have some of that stuff left in my basement.

Producing these from plastics will be expensive in terms of equipment

I wouldnt know... was just a brainfart anyway. Making a mold from the balck cover wouldnt be too difficult.. but I have no idea what kind of resins you need to cast clear plastics.

For know, I'm just going to try and get 2 of these to look as good as I can get them.. polish the f@ck out of the plastic and repaint the housing..
