Mix and match...
Here is a rough guide lifted from Toyspeed.org.nz.....

1. Bluetop bigport 40mm crank 4age ae82/86
2. Redtop bigport 42mm crank 4age/ze strongest rods ae92 (early)
3. Redtop smallport 42mm crank 4age/ze strongest rods ae92 (late)
(some run later model rods from ae101)
4. Silvertop 20v/smallport ze 42mm crank strong rods ae101
5. Blacktop 20v 42mm crank weakest rods ae111

AFAIK you should always (99% of the time) find a 42mm crank
in a seven rib block. Apparently, there were a few engines built
with the 42mm crank in three rib blocks at the time of the change,
but they are RARE.

As a matter in interest, Toyota NZ circuit raced a couple of AE82GT
Corollas back in 1985-86. The engines had a habit of breaking cranks.
Crank life was said to be less than 10 hours at 8000 rpm.

Cheers... jondee86
