ae86 engine swap
I know it's has often be discussed , but I can't find it back .
What would be needed to replace my Ae86 rwd engine with a late AE92 4AGE engine ?
20v engine are cheap in US , but I not allowed for my rallye use , as it has not been imported to Belgium and so forbidden (following race rules here)
Any idea and links welcome .

You just need to remove the extra oil drain from the cylinder head and plug the hole in the block where it leads to.
For optimal performace I would go for the complete engine including smallport head, and use the ecu that goes with it.

It's pretty straightforward to swap the engine in, getting all the electronics sorted could be a little more complicated.

that's one of my questions : I guess i would be necessary to have the complete electrical harness and ae92 ecu . I don't have any MAP or MAF
just direct air filter KN , and TVis

You cant just use a whole small port, the intake manifold for the small port doesnt work unless you cut and shut the ends of it etc... Unless youre running ITB/Carbs etc then you just need a small port Intake mani.

Does RWD AE86 exist with small port manifold ? I use an old engine (never open) and I guess it's a big port !

Dont worry to much yet... The late ae92 engine needs either a re-welded smallport manifold (to move the throttle body towards the front of the car), or you could use one of the available adapter plates (goes in place of TVIS plate)...jamiemirror and techno toy tuning make those, i suspect you'l get a better price from jamiemirror if he still has some left.

The electronics side of things is described in more detail on club4ag. We dont see this swap often here since that engine is difficult to find (at least in holland).. I think it's even easier to find a 20v here. People have used lots of different configurations, bigport ECU + resistorpack for the low-Z green injectors that come with the engine, full ae92 electronics etc.

BTW, you probably have a MAP sensor...that's the little black box with a vacuum line to the manifold.
