Engine surgery...
I have some valveticking (not sure what the term is in english) on my 4AGE, and I'm planning to replace the camshafts, vents, and perhaps the pistons... I'm hoping to gain a few extra HP in the process as well...
Can someone please help me a bit and tell me which parts I should buy, and from where? 84' Corolla GT Twin Cam AE86 (daily driver) |

If your valves are making noise, it might be a good idea to replace the valve guides too while you're at it. The rest is all a matter of budget.. pistons range from 60 dollars per set of 4 low-comp pistons, to 500+ dollars per 4 for wiseco and other performance stuff.

amiga how much power gain do you want. How much do you want to spent on your camshafts. (much lift requeres other componements to be replaced)

Wiseco Pistons are 435USD... they are cheaper than OEM. It is not replacing camshafts that you eliminate valve ticking... it is by changing shims.
Buy wiseco 81.5mm, ARP bolts and studs, shave the head 0.3-0.5mm, install a metal head gasket 0.5-0.8mm and a pair of 264ยบ camshafts. If your budget allows it, change valve springs too. Do some head work while your at it. Best regards |
