Hello, I Have an '84 sr5 that has a 3ac with a cracked block. I need to put another engine in it and don't want another 3ac. I was looking into swapping in a 4ag with dual carbs. What all is incorporated in this as far as modifications? I've searched and haven't come across this in particular. Can I do it with the stock steering knuckle? I know I have to do some electrical work. I have to fix car soon otherwise I have to sell and I really really dont want to sell it (I love this car). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

thread about hooking up the ignition timing and stuff.

Basically the 4AG should be bolt in and there should be no worries as far as steering goes. Your main problem will be electronics (I think covered in that thread but I'm not sure, I've never done this!) and things like fuel.

Also you'll need something for exhaust

Anyways, if you got the engine with carbs already and you know what you're doing, it should be a very doable swap..

Offcourse once you get it running you're going to find out the SR5 rear axle can't take the HP, the suspension needs upgrading and the brakes are questionable if your carbed engine produces good power. But they are all things that you can do in due time..
