k40 to T50 worth the effort?
Parts only Bas. All bearings and synchros. Of course I'm no Toyota dealer, so ask around. I think Max Misawa sells it for around 350 USD which is about 260 EUR. So Toyota should be a bit closer to 300 EUR IMHO.

now... depending on the damage...
a T50 usually requires $500-$700 in parts, sometimes it requires $900 worth for the PARTS alone! the T50 isn't the strongest box either, what kind of power are you putting down? a T50 will hold 100 hp all day and night as long as the shifter has good bushings and the 2nd gear synchro has yet to be damaged. The best shifter bushings available are made by T3... cost is about $35 with freight. *IF* 2nd gear is currently a problem, it won't fix itself.... Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! Currently my box is relatively ok, what problems I experience most likely are experienced by my clutch going out. Still I'm abusing my box daily so I'm not sure how long it will stay good enough But my reasoning is more one for experience then that I really need a new box atm. I just want to learn how to rebuild one and if I can find one that isn't to badly damaged and can be rebuild with the basic parts and those are affordable, then it would be something I would want to tackle. I would say a T50 conversion would be pointless on the KE20 unless you let the 4age that comes with it stay on. If you need a custom bellhousing you might as well consider a sierra gearbox conversion from fensport.
That will make life much cheaper with your gearbox wrecking hobby... FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
