motor oil for 16V
I know this might have been discussed for many time but I still want to know more....

I searched the following info. for AW11:

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...er=2538703

And the "official" spec for motor oil is like:

Which mean, for the general temperature in my place, I should use 20W40 motor oil. This is fine, but I found that their is not many(or none) 20W40 motor oil for car, I could only find 20W40 motor oil for 4T motorcycle. I wonder if I motorcycle oil could be used on 4AG or not... Dumb question

I don't believe you unless you're it's actually SF you're specifically looking for!!!!
That chart is at least 10 years old and SM (maybe SN?) is the current & best stuff you can get, SF is obsolete.
Read more on that site.

you should be able to find 10w-40 that is in the same temp range than the 20w40 but with better properties during cold.

That chart is now very old.
Do not use motorcycle oils, they have a slip agent because most motorcycles have their clutch lubricated by the engine oil ( unlike cars that run a dry clutch system)

I live in a hot desert climate and have found that 10w-40 works good on both my 4age and 4afe engines. The oil itself is nothing fancy, just conventional Valvoline.

Oil discussions usually never end in any valuable conclusions.

My view on engine oil is simple: on any well used engine (100k+) I just throw in any oil I can get my hands on, cheap stuff bought from Lidl not excluded. Just make sure its the right specification (usually 10W40), and then make sure to do oil changes often enough (once every year).
Throwing expensive oil in an old engine will not make it a better engine, so why bother. If it burns oil, might as well top off with cheap stuff.
As far as tired 4age's are concerned I've had bad experiences with switching to thicker oil (15W40), if anything, my engines started consuming more oil after that.

On a freshly built engine I would consider full-synthetic for sure. Never had one though, so I havent had to bother to figure out which one to use... I'm sure there are plenty that are more than good enough for a simple old 4age.

PLEASE, you're going to scare someone!
I'm almost seriously sure that every kind of racing engine in the world has won using any&every major oil manufacturer/brand and grade possible at some time or another, except using gear oil in the engine the Siberian winter.
All have been accused of sludge, All have been accused of failures, when it's the owner or clearances or lack of lube or contamination as the real cause.
