nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Awesome!
Do you have an idea of what the car weighs now? Including half a tank of gas?
Also, are there any international race classes running on your local track? Things like the porsche cup etc? Lap records?

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

Hi, yeah it's a fantastic circuit suits a well balanced car , I hope to be racing there over 2 weekends at the end of January .

The camera is a Gopro Hd great device and simple to use records in MPEG4.

Cheers

Awesome car, love the videos Yummie!

I think the only thing you can do next, is change the gearbox to a 6 speed sequential. You will get much faster gearchanges and it will sound awesome, when it cut the ignition for a 1/4 second at up and down shifting. BUT it will not be true to the original 80' N2 car, so mayby you should stick with the H gearbox Thumbs up!

I will love to see how much this thing weigh.

Project AE86 now begun.

Cars I have owned:
Toyota Starlet EP91 1,3 16v Turbo, 200hp
Toyota Starlet EP71 1,3 12v Sport
Mercedes 207D camper, 1977.
Toyota Starlet EP70 with a 174hp Silvertop 20v See video here:

Toyota Corolla AE101 with a 164hp Silvertop 20v. (Evolution bodykit and candycolor paint).
Volvo 240 2,1 (The only car I have maked money on).
Toyota Corolla EE90 (my first car)

Thanks for the idea's , but I will keep this car to the original TRD build, I have now been granted a "certificate of description" for this car by Motorsport New Zealand. This makes this car eligible to race in classic and historic races here in NZ, this was my intention with this build from the beginning.

It has taken a lot of research to prove that these cars were raced in this format , and a lot of money spent on this car to make it a classic race car .I am racing in this event at the end of January ,

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Well I thought the clutch was sorted but no , it's out again this time to replace the ap racing center push with a Tilton one .Goes to show that using old bits that you have on the shelf is not always a good idea, the clutch was starting to drag when hot , looks like the seal in the ap bearing is a bit tired and not being able to source a replacement it was time for a new tilton. Now every thing from the pedal, master cylinder , clutch and center push is now a matched make.

The maintenance on this car is huge , I knew when I built it that it was going to be a lot of work to maintain it. The stress on everything is massive when you start to pull big revs. The harmonics through the engine can do a lot of damage and create a lot of wear between any surfaces like oil and fuel lines rubbing together.

After the two race meetings I have at the end of this month the engine is going to be pulled apart and crack tested , I have bought a brand new TRD crank that will be here by then, so I may put that in and use the other to build a spare engine as I have all the other bits including a dry sump system.
