You'd be surprised to see how many new cars have a plastic tank unprotected Smile Besides, the metal tank is just as vulnerable...

Depends on what you define as better. The rear is light enough already and easy to make even worse.

How much weight would these save (if any)? For this price if I ever need a replacement its a no brainer.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

all modern cars have plastic ones and the fia approoved tanks are from the same plastic .its from linear polyethylene thats is flexible and hard to brake and if you manage to brake it you can easily repair it .many people bring me fuel tanks to repair them after crashed cars .the point to make one plastic is that it will never rust is hard to brake or if someone crash you from behind it will not brake it safer than the steel one .it can also be made in any color you wish .black blue red yellow you name it .

Cool idea Bakonick! I just wonder who makes them in Greece? If you build a mold for it (and on the named price) I really think you can get it going, as long as people learn about it . As you stated, it would be better than steel ones...
