So, clutch fully engaged, engine revs low (<1000 rpm) and car moving
slowly.... right ?? Did this start right from the time the clutch was changed, or did it work fine to begin with, and then start shaking ?? Any other noise or vibration at higher revs ?? Cheers... jondee86 |

Did you have a standard Toyota clutch fitted or an uprated one ?

the clutch is a standard one, it does vibrate at around 5.5-6k plus as well, the shaking starts as soon as the clutch is engaged, you can really feel it through the gear stick. i think it did it before the clutch got changed, interestingly it doesn't shake when the car is completly cold.

The revs will be higher when the engine is cold.
It may be worth checking the engine and gearbox mounts. An analogue brain in a digital World |

shaking
If it doesn't shake when the box is in neutral or with the clutch depressed,
it is pretty safe to say that it is not due to any out of balance in the clutch. And since you describe it as "shaking" and not "vibrating", I would assume this is a low frequency thing. Perhaps you have one weak cylinder ? If you have a cylinder that is down on compression, it does not generate the same amount of torque as the other three, and is felt as a cyclic pulse at low engine speeds. At higher speeds the performance of the weak cylinder improves, as there is not so much time for compression to leak away. Homegrown theory Might be worth doing a compression test tho Cheers... jondee86 |
