spot welding
Hi,
I am going to spot weld some panels and was wondering how to protect the areas around the welds were the 2 surfaces joins. I thought of some sort of weld through primer or phosphoric acid, but is that enough? 'Cause even if I clean the welds and carefully cover them with some anti rust primer and then seal where the metal joins, the rust will show up in the long run, wont it? Do you got any pointers? I do a lot of welding and have always used 3Ms weld-thru primer. Supposedly, the heat of welding actually activates the product to create a bonded zinc between the substraits.
As far as I've experienced, its been very successful as even panels that I've unintentionally left for several weeks before primer and paint haven't shown any signs of rust. |

Eastwood sells their own proprietary brand. The 3M brand should be available either online or at paint supply stores or autoparts stores that carry moderate paint supplies.
I think when I need more, I'm going to switch to the eastwood brand, as its available in gallons instead of aerosol. I think either choice should lead to good results, just follow the directions of whichever product you end up going with and you'll be fine. Good luck. |
