SEARCH!!!!!
Lots to read on the aussie forums. I dont remember exactly, but I "think" the only brake upgrades that they were doing required an entire change of strut. So not sure if you can slap the RA40 stuff onto the AE86 struts.. Then again...for 0.99GBP I guess it would be worth taking a risk ;-) A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

celica ra40 brake upgrade
Sorry cant see the link as I am at work -
Are you talkign front brakes or rear brakes? The RA40 brakes can be used on the rear of the T series axel - the axle caps bolt up properly but allow a bigger disc and caliper to be used. IIRC the dust sheild needs to be removed though. If you talking fronts, havent seen a RA40 set up used up front but dosnt mean it cant. Usual upgrade is the FC3s 4 pots with a custom bracket and BMW Mini / Civic discs. However big question when it comes to upgrading the brakes is do you really need them? Stock calipers, and discs with some braided lines and decent compound pads is more than enough for the car. Just make sure the stock stuff is working properly! I run stock calipers, disc's, lines and Mintex 1144 on track, I have never run out of brakes even after a hard charging 20 lap session, and I am also a late braker. I have never felt I need anything more in the way of brakes on the 86. Good thing with the stock set up is when parts do need replacing then they are also cheap! http://www.eight-six.co.uk - read the blog!
