I want to weld my diff but I can't pull the axle out. haw do I do it?

download the body manual from the website and look into that. Think that is the most easy way.

I guess you mean you can't pull the halfshafts out of the housing? You either need to make a SST to fit on the halfshaft flange and hammer it out, or (at your own risk) hammer the flange directly out. The relevant toyota SST is shown in the repair manual, as does the procedure for rear axle overhaul if you go through it...

Spawns... I feel real bad now
Anyway I tried a slide hammer like the ones shown, no luck. I bolted an old steel wheel onto to the hub and hit the back of it with a real big hammer. Once it had moved a fraction I sprayed some WD40 around the bearing and after soaking for a while the shaft came out fairly easily. Take off the caliper complete with carrier, remove disc and remove the four bolts holding the bearing retainer in before any of the above though. An analogue brain in a digital World |
