Mark, for your background info, the reason this was brought up is because we've had some remarks by some people from some forum in our direction regarding our interest of improving our cars eventhough that means they are no longer 'original' Seeing what you are doing to your car I'm sure you'll have (or maybe already had) fun talks with those people

TACN can indeed be a weird and dedicated bunch sometimes, but everyone chooses their own way of practicing their automotive hobby. You'll always have differences of opinion.
I look at it this way. If we didn't pick them up and use them as hobby cars, most AE86 and older corolla's would have ended up on the scrap heap. The old toyota fanbase is just to small to save all of them. So in the end its a good thing, whether they'll admit too that reamains to be seen.

Changin the engine in your corolla is a difficult call. Basically, you could swap in any engine that has a RWD tranny, not just the toy engines. A 4Ag can be expensive these days, certainly with al the RWD goodies. 2TG and RG engines seem to be more common on the second hand market: there is less of them available, but the market is nonexistant, so they stay for sale. Spare parts is difficult though.

Take a look at other cars too though, the optimal solution (for you) could very well be a engine from a totally different car. For example the mazda miata engine is far preferable to the 4AG if you want to boost. (250RWHP on stock block) and has LOTS of cheap turbokits available (1000$ greddy). Blocks are common too as they came in the 323, ford escort, some kia's etc etc.
Also the 200SX engine might be an option etc etc.

A cheap 2tg has a lot going for it though. Simple carb setup that provides excellent character. Same horsepower as the 4AG, but less electronics to fiddle with etc etc. Should bolt in fairly simply.

And there are more ke30's which are original..
it isn't the most beautiful car, I know, but it's nice....

About tacn... some people want OEM cars, but some others are looking at it differently.
Those kinda people are also present @ TACN (a KE25 is going to be build into a TE27 some time, they all know that )

Well, I meant basically what you just wrote... I don't think you want to change your delorean to a Back to the Future lookalike car, so you know everything about keeping a car "OEM".
On the other hand, why not improve it a little bit? Small flux-capacitor, digital meters, etc. >

Maybe a 2tg is more factory look (i Like that) but i don't know any good 2tg for sale....In the past time I only saw a few 2tg engines...
4age are more available..

And an motor of another car, is not the thing that i like..
I dont need that much power..

turbo and supercharger are for the far, far future,

I only want this rwd toyota a bit faster..
So a 2tg and the 4age are options..

Actually, these things happen in every club including the DeLorean community. Every DeLorean owner knows that the coolent bottle has a weakpoint and will eventually brake so we all replace it with a metal one. But there are people within the community that think that even such a small change changes the car into non-original and they are unhappy about it. My DeLorean is far from stock and I have no intention to keep it stock. Aslong as it looks stock from the outside I'll do any improvement I can when I have the money. So fixes the shortcomings in the engine, changing the weak suspention, etc. There are just to many things 'wrong' with that car that I'm sure that if the company had survived longer, would have been changed by the factory aswell. The car simply was never 'finished'.

In the RX7 community I see the same old thing aswell. There are plenty of people who really hate it when another 1st gen is modded because these cars are getting rare in stock form.

after searching the net I realise that maybe coilovers is a bit to far for my project. The only thing I want is to lower my ke30 and increase the road worthy... no race, no rally, just cruisin and a better suspension then stock.

Maybe ae86 struts, (shorten or lower springs) with ae92 shocks wil complete my "dream".
