20V VVT on standalone ECU
Hi,
anyone done it before? There is very litte or no infomation avaliable. If anyone got any, please share expirience and information I´ve had a blacktop running on a OMEX 600 before which could only act as a on-off switch related to rpm (like Honda VTEC), done 2 dyno runs and ended up disableing it, since it caused big torqueloss for the sake of 3hp. Defiantly not worth it... Now on a different car Emerald K3 is supposed to be able to control VVT, BUT I´ve got no idea how the 20V solenoid need to be triggered and the emerald manual doesnt cover it. Rene is right. Omex600 can do it. I have been in one that was a ST with a omex 600 and it was quicker then a standard BT with standard ECU.

See if you can find these under the "Additional Maps" tab in the Emerald
software. If you have the tables, you should be able to implement VVT control of some kind. Cam on/ off switching control. Switch according to rpm and load. Any spare output can be assigned to this function. Rover VVC control. Continuously variable cam duration. Control target duration according to load and speed table. Oil temperature correction to control algorithm. The VVT switch is a simple rpm/load on/off setup controlled by the ECU. The VVT control is a more sophisticated system, modulating the VVT solenoid according to rpm/load, and requires both crank and cam sensors to allow the ECU to monitor the degrees of cam advance or retard. I did not find any reference to this in the documentation, so I don't know if this runs in closed or open loop... open loop I would guess. Cheers... jondee86 PS: With Toyota 20V engines, I believe that (@ WOT) there is an optimum lower rpm for turning the VVT on, and above a certain higher rpm it should be turned off, for best performance. hi
the 20 V engine is a simpel on/off valve so use the PWM table if there not are a output you can controll with rpm 0% to where you to set it off and 100% to put it on and off at low rpm on where you want torque and off at high rpm to get the last hk I don't think you get the VVT function to work because you don't have a feed back from the cam, but you can try but email me if you have quastions |
