Need help identifying this!
Hi Guys,

So my JDM Trueno came with a small keychain-like key (Red with three holes at the top, with some brushed gold colour metal inside, 2 cm in size) that I need to point towards some sensor under my dash in order for me to turn the key at the ignition and start the engine. It's like a safety feature and without it, the engine won't turn and start. You'll know that you can start the engine when you hear a beep.

I am trying to research what this is but can't find anything as I don't know what's it called haha! Can anyone help me identify what this safety feature is?

Thanks guys!

You have an immobiliser installed. You really need to show some images on here if you want it identified though.

That's it! I did not know that it was an immobiliser system, just thought that it was some other safety feature that was installed. Never met anything like it before I got my trueno.

I'll upload an image later on so that I'll know the brand yes! Thanks mate!

That's indeed an immobilizer. Especially in the UK a popular feature and they became mandatory in 1988 for new cars due to theft of hot hatches during the mid 1980s. It could be the previous owner installed one as protection or to lower their insurance fee.

Thanks for the further clarification mate! I did not know that an aftermarket option was available before getting my trueno... Yesterday I was thinking about what this could be and just thought I'd ask here...where else to ask about this Cool !

I haven't taken a photo of it yet, but it a little fob 1 inch in size.
