Vibration/Shudder In steering over approx 100kph
Hi guys,
I wonder if you can confirm a problem I have from my poor description. I am getting some shaking in the steering on my hachi over 100kph. Its been there since I got the car. I've pretty much ruled out a bent half shaft, my wheels have all been balanced and the wheel bearings all seem good. I am guessing its going to be one of the balljoints on the end of the track control arms. Has anyone else experienced this ? Regards Ian. |

Ian.G Wrote:Hi guys,Hmmm, the balljoints of my mitsu should be replaced pretty soon and I don't get shaking in the steering. It's more a bit like the car steers by itself. If I turn the wheel it feels like it takes half a second before anything happens. This only happens when I drive faster than 100kph. When I drive below that the car reacts normal. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

I have the same problem. Wheels were balanced 2 weeks ago and everything else seems to be in order... Maybe we just have to live with it (its a 20 year old car after all...)

I have no such problem. Wheels were balanced once when the (used) tires fitted, and never had problems. Whenever i had such problem it was unbalanced wheel.
Try to make an "on car" wheel balance. http://www.ae86.gr |

I think guys that the problem is not very well centered rims to the car...(sorry for my poor english here )
if the rims are changed you 'll have to get some o-rings for the new ones for an accurate positioning of them on the car. Same problems i got here and solve it by custom made teflon-rings (50euros if i remember well) Hope i helped... AE86 FANATIC!!! |

Hmmm...
I am running 5mm spacers on the front - I wonder if they are not faced onto the mounting surface or the brakedisk/hub correctly ??? Maybe I'll clean them up and see what happens. Regards Ian. |

You may check also rubber gear mount and the lager in the middle of driveshaft (the driveshaft is 2-piece item).
