Thank you, Apolan, now i don't feel that stupid for not knowing myself.
SQUEAL PLATES Metal plates which are placed on the brake pads which are designed to audibly squeal when the brakes are almost fully worn. according to http://www.std.com.au... |

domi,
then I feel even more stupid because the things I was talking about are the small little metal thingies that 'guide' the brake pad from the sides. No idea what to call them then Abe, should be possible to get the from Toyota. I'm not 100% sure if the additional sanding was enough to do the trick or whether its really that I left out these little brackets. Can someone look up parts numbers for these, I need to get a working EPG Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

This one has a schematic of everything in a brake kit, if I understand what you mean - it is referred in there as pad-calipers. Which sounds stupid as it would then be easily mistaken for the brake caliper itself, the one with the cylinders and all, but oh well - english has been known to suck here and there =) |

You have squeel plates..little metal clips that come in contact with the disc when the pads are worn..causing a loud squeel so you'll know to replace your brakes, but the ones mux meant are the anti-squeel plates. They make installing pads on my rear calipers nigh-impossible so I only used half of them, without any squeel issues. The rubber pads on the back perform the same function as copper-grease applied to the back of the pads...preventing squeel.
