Update: Yesterday I brought back home with me

-> My old gearbox (the one destroyed by stupid mechanic - look on previous pages). I'm gonna open it with the help of a friend and try to salvae what I can. I might even repair it if there's no major damae to gears or primary shaft.

-> The A/C the car had on it when I first bought it (3 years ago). It's complete with all the needed paraphernalia, but it needs some serious servicing before it's ready to put back on the car. Actually I'm undecided whether I'll mount it or not, due to the added weight. On the other hand, it's quite a usefull adet in the hot Greek summer.

-> A full set of AE111 ITBs Yummie! . They cost me my stock 4.3 cwp. It's complete with all sensors, tubing, wiring and fuses. Plans are to clean it, and then research on the best value/money solution to drive it. I'm already assuming (without researching), that the OEM redtop ECU cannot run it efficiently if at all, based on the idea that there are probably some incompatibilities between the ITBs and the ECU. Of course I will need a few more things like longer duration cams and probably a CR raise to take full advantage, but that will depend on funds availability.

Here's a teaser (love at first sight :winkSmile

Keep the T50 even with broken parts inside.

I wouldn't throw it away jamie. But knowing TOYOTA, the cost of the primary shaft could cost me more than a tip-top condition used gearbox.

You best friend here sais:

1) Listen to jammiemirror

2) DO install the AC when ready

3) Put the ITBs on with an aftermarket ECU

(I can find e-manage for cheap, you know)

As I said, I would not throw it away anyway. I would just like to know if there's more to jamie's rationale than the obvious (we never throw something that heavy and expensive away).

Yes, there is reason.
I bought "damaged" (but it seems OK!) T50 in order to try to convert it to custom ratio and try dogbox also. But I have more important job to do at the moment.
If this experiment succeed, I hope prices will be far under Toyota/TRD ones. But such gear set will require T50 castings - remember ? Wave
