How to improove oem WHEEL ALIGNMENT settings (toe&caster
Lets talk about this. I'm wondering if oem alignment can be adjusted to perform better (fast street use). I will be running just sporty lowering springs and sporty shocks. Cca 40mm lowering (no coilovers).
[u:cba0d06625]OEM Specifications:[/u:cba0d06625] caster: 3°40' toe: 1mm toe in after 180° advance of the wheels Probably best to leave toe oem for street, as we dont want to torture our tires too much. But how about caster setting? 3°40' doesn't seem alot, so how much can be gained by increasing the caster? PS: how about TIRE PRESSURE? the manual says OEM inflatation should be 1.7 bar (24 psi). What combinations have you tried and experience? regards,sašo |

apo i was running no toe in just complete striaght on 2.2 bar front and 2.1 bar rear on 205x50x15 which I thought was for that setup of tires a very nice way to drive the car

I was actually thinking about just this. I changed ride height and need to adjust toe before going to the Ring. I found this on the subject:
Quote:Now to get back to tire wear. It is not the camber settings that prematurely wear out tires (unless you never drive your car hard enough) but the toe setting. The toe setting will change with any suspension change you make and is mandatory to be adjusted after any change to the front suspension. The easiest way of adjusting this is by picking up a set of toe plates. They are just 2 pieces of metal that you put against your wheels with a tape measure slots built in. I just set my toe to 0 but you can give it safely about an 1/8inch in ether direction (ie tow out= autocross, toe in= high speed stability).*Battleversion suspension guide @ club4ag* After talking to my friend who used to rally his AE86 I decided to try 0.5 mm toe in. Tire-pressures are very tire dependent..not much use stating them without any background info.
A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

good info. so slight toe out gives more responsive steering and produces more oversteer? in which phase of the corner?
And how about the caster, has anyone tried increasing it? NoHachi, you're our tech specialist, your thoughts? |
