need help. 250bhp wanted

well folks, im new to the site and i would like some advice,
can i get 250bhp out of my standard block, or will i need to go to an sr20,
i want a race car more than a drift, any ideas on this would be great,
i need to know what i want to do before sorting body work, i really dont want to have to weld a bracket in after paint, that would be emotional..

Get an sr20.
250 out of a 16v 4age is very possible.
But it will cost 10 times as much to make a reliable 250 bhp in compare to an SR20

Either beams 3sge or a fc20 from a s2000, will give you 300hp all day every day more reliable then an old stinky sr20.

If your lucky enough to find them, sr16v and sr20v (i think them the right numbers)also give big numbers reliabley but getting extremely hard to find now.

if you want a race car than why 250 hp ? drift needs lots of torgue and hp. A 200 hp ae86 racecar is hell faster than you can imagine.

Beams is 210, F20C is 240.

Getting 300 N/A out of them recuires factory R&D + A budget to run a small town.

That old stinky SR will run 250 smoothly without modification.
And for the price of a beams or F20C you can buy 4 SR20's

The SR isn't a rev happy engine..
It's smooth.

You could use a 4AGZE and swap the super charger with a turbo. 250 bhp would be easy...

Maybe it will run a month.
But not 50.000 km without a major wear of parts.
