I wrapped my manifold (Full race spec 200bhp 4A-GE) because when using the car at the circuit, the heat from the manifold was slightly deforming my distributor cap, eventually causing the rotor to shattter.
I've had no problems with the manifold as a result of wrapping. However, If you don't have a spring flanges or flex pipe on your manifold - and it's prone eventually to cracking, then wrapping may not be such a good idea. A lot of race cars use wrapped manifolds. None of them melt. If the exhaust temps are too high, then there's probably something wrong with the ignition timing / fueling. VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITES!!!!
