Ryo: about 10w60 im not too sure. its fully sintetic and the gap is really big (so a lot of syntetic stuff). Klaus (mo-racing) wrote about his findings when talking too an oil-guy.

this is what an application engineer told me:

for lubrication synthetic is many times bether than mineral.
for durability synthetic is not good. the synthetic stuff is "breaking" at higher temperatures in a periodically way (above 100-110°C this happens quickly!).
the first number is the viscosity of the base oil. the second number is the viscosity reached through chemistry.
oil with a big viscosity range has lots of synthetic and breaks quicker.

what is semi-synthetic???
these are synthetic oils as well. every oil that has a viscosity range has synthetics. they just say full-synthetic to 0W-xx and 5W-xx oils. everything else is called semi-synthetic



so i will use 10W-40 for everyday and change it after 5 - 10tkm. and for trackdays i will get 20W-50 valvoline because of it´s thicker base-oil and less synthetic stuff. (also heard from drag racers who stoped breaking bearings after changing from 10W-60 to 20W-50)

for gearbox oil i will choose a safe 80W-90 and for diff i will try the 75W-140 diff oil from castrol.

i have found simmilar oppinions on some other forums... so choose accordingly. i think something like 10w40 is best for daily drives, for track you can use something more heat resistant xx-50 or maybe even xx-60 still trying to keep the range down.

considering brands, it really doesnt matter that much. just look for mark wich says 10w-40 (or whatever you decide to buy) and choose the cheapest. =)

watching a Best Motoring show the other day (type-r special) featuring Mr. Ichishima, the head of Spoon Sports. He said: Oil is not whisky, just get the propper standard, regardless to the brand. =)

talking to a guy who races in our national cup (rally). he also said that it really doesnt matter what brand you get. to proove that he showed me the oil he uses. it was a 15w40 xy-no-name-brand oil, which he got for a quarter of a price you would usually pay for a "brand oil". its more important to keep the changes regular and oil fresh, than using a fully sint oil for longer period of time.

btw, the only oil that made a difference between all is Motul if you can afford it. is supposedly has some additives that make a difference.
