Diff goes click, clunk and donk

couldn't it be that the joints from the axel to the diff are loosening a bit.
Because when you shift gear, the drive is 'lost' so for a while the rear axle drives the axle, then you are finished with shifting and then it's the other way around. If there is some space between the joints, it could make some sounds
