Check the timing.....
Hey... if it revs to redline and idles... but bogs and rattles when you
crack the throttle wide open, having too much advance is a good bet. Check the timing. You have to jumper (temporarily connect together) two of the pins in the diagnostic plug (probably T and E1). Then check that it has the specified amount of advance at idle (probably 10 deg). You will need a timing light. Adjust by loosening off the clamp on the base of the distributor, and twisting the distributor forward or back. Tighten the clamp when finished ![]() When you take the jumper out the amount of advance will increase as the ECU dials in extra to take the total up to what the engine needs. Can't remember how much more... maybe to 28 deg total ?? Someone else will know. It's not important. Ten deg at idle with the jumper in, and you are good to go ![]() Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
