IMO, yes. If your fuel tank is in the state that most out there are, then you really dont even want to try to get the hardlines loose from the lines on the car. The lines and fittings are usually corroded solid, so you end up breaking the hardlines, which are hard to fix. The safest approach is to drop the tank a little, then loosen the screws on the pump assembly, drop the tank a bit more, or completely, then change out the fuel pump whilst it is still hanging under the car.
This sounds like a PITA, but it's much better than having to fix the hardlines on the fuelpump assembly. You'll hardly be doing this on a monthly basis or anything, so it's a shame to cut a hole in the floor for it anyway. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
