4A-GE first experience
Greetings to all!
I need help of the experienced 4A-GE builders.

My story...
Arriving at the miniDH event in the nearby town of Krivoy Rog I accidentally found and bought for only $250 stripped down and not a complete 4A-GE.

My plans for the motor are as follows:

* Reliability consisting of low-cost OEM parts;
* Horizontal carbs. (Weber or Dellorto);
* MSD ignition;
* and so on.

My questions at this stage consists in the following:

A. What kind of pistons were in it?

B. With piston size - 81.65 mm and diameter of the cylinder - 82.10 mm pistons what new I need to get?

Does it make sense to build the engine on this block?
Or is it better find a new 4A block?

a) Those are 7AFE pistons....

b) get 82mm diameter pistons

My next question is OIL PAN.

How to increase it's capacity and do it right???

#1 is my design Respect! For more details about the overall design - http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=...tid=943002


#2 is a common Japanese type, it has added volume on one side only so it can be used in fwd applications

#3 I've not seen before

Cool! I didn't know that you designed it... Thumbs up!

I put it first because it is easiest to implement and to me it seemed more reliable. Especially in the lateral g-forces in cornering.

I'm just not sure about the added volume ... it's adding more than 1 liter of oil or less?

A few advantages....
1) more oil = more capability to absorb heat, and holds its viscosity better

2) oil drainback on 4AG largeport is ONLY on exhaust side of engine, during long hard left hand cornering, the oil can "pack" the head... leaving the pan with a potential for low oil... extra quart in pan allows for some security

Each wedge section holds 2 cups... 4 cups in US measure = 1 quart. Current rwd 4AGE pan is 4 quart, so this would increase volume to 5 quart
