4AGE 16v with 20v ITB Problems..... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Hello people,
I have just completed my 4age ITB setup. I am using the AE92 wiring harness and MAP ECU with a high comp 4age engine and a big port head. I have the T3 intake manifold with a set of Silvertop 20v throttle bodies. I swapped the outside wires in my TPS so the voltage readings would be reversed to match what the ECU should read (20v ITBs work in reverse to the stock AE92/ AE86 TPS setup).

I am having problems revving the car out. It usually bogs down but I was told that it could be caused by the plugs fouling form too much gas at idle. When the car eventually revs out it reaches 5500 rpm and there is some sort of limiter. It doesnt rev past that point. Does anyone know why or what the solution is?

The car also has a very lumpy idle. The engine has in 288 HKS cams with 8.1mm lift. I am going to try playing with the fuelling map on the ultimate to see if i can resolve the bogging down issue.

I have read that the 5500 rpm limit has something to do with the ignitor/ ecu/ dizzy setup. CAn anyone shed any light?

Thanks.

kirby,

becuase you have 288 cams you idle is fucked up. In every itb there is an adjust valve (screw) top open up for idle revving. Turn these equal a bit more open to create a higher idle around 1200 rpm should make it run smooth.

Regarding the readings do you use the tps from the itb's or from the 16v? The air mixture is also important. Please post pictures form your setup.

I know the rough idle is caused by the cams. BUt it is not just lumpy it is rough, beyond being caused by the cams. That is a minor problem, I wanna know why the car isnt revving past 5500 rpm.

ITB's just don't work ok with the standard ECU.
even worst with 288 cams.
get a piggyback , or even better a stand alone.
And do it before you screw the bottom end of your engine

Another very rough solution is progressive fuel regulator. Your car just leans over middle RPM.

Over-rich mixture will cause lumpy idle.
Lots of overlap on the cams will cause lumpy idle.
Poor vacuum signal for the MAP sensor will cause lumpy idle.

Have you fed the four vacuum tappings into some sort of "accumulator"
can to smooth the signal for the MAP sensor ?

Can you get hold of a wideband O2 sensor and gauge so you can
actually see what lambda you are running at idle and at 5500 rpm ?

Cheers... jondee86
