AE70 Sprinter Engine qustion

Hey guys,

Well this is my fist post of this site i have been looking for some sites for my new AE70 Sprinter but no one seems to have anything on them!!!

My question is really quite simple to anyone who knows this car and the 4age

Question as follows;

I need to know if a blue top 4age will fit into the engine bay using the original engine mounts

All so how much power dose a standard 3-AU engine have

Hi, cool car..lovin the 70's box design.
Just guessing since I dont have any experience with te/ke70's: you probably need the ae86 crossmember to fit the 4age in it, since the engine mounts connect to that. Might not be necessary if you already have an 'A' family engine though.

And Ill just add that the 3AU gives somewhat between 60 to 65 hp

if it's an AE70, with any a-series engine in, you just can put any other A series engine in, so yes: a 4A-GE is bolt on

if i'm correct, the 3A-U AE70 uses the K40/K50 gearbox with an A series bellhousing, so it will fit, but i'm not sure if the gearbox made for little k-engines can cope with the 4A-GE, but converting to hydraulic clutch and T50 gearbox isn't that hard.

Doc, even if it's K-gearbox if clutch housing was intended for use with A-series engine, it can be used with any A-engine too.

yeah, i know, but like i said, i don't know if the K40/50 can take the power from a 4A-GE
