Toyo Proxes R888 is available in 185/60R14. I've heard that it's an excellent tyre for mixed street/trackday use and have been thinking about getting a set for my hachi as soon as it's driveable again.
Proxes T1-R seems to be available in 195/55R14 but also 195/45R14 and 225/40R14 - that's some ultra-low profile stuff for 14" wheels! Are there any other affordable tyre brands which produce these kind of exotic sizes for 14" wheels? The point is that i want to get used set of tires!
The easiest used sizes are 185/60 and 195/60, so these are the 2 choices. Will the 185 be strange on the 7 width rim? danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |

Hehe....Wanli tyres make 185/50r14 tyres....very affordable but I would go for Toyo proxes if you want grip.. Wanli's are known for having little grip but good endurance (aka drifttyres).

This is not experience from the hachi, but it still applies:
On the pug, I run 205/40-17 in the summer and 195/50-16 in the winter. I run an extremely hard suspension (2,5-3x standard), which together with the Bridgestone S-03's give an unbelievable feel for the road. The winter tires are too high profile, and when driving over stripes on the road and similar little bumps they make the car bounce a little bit afterwards. Upping the pressure to 3bar helped a little, but it's far from perfect. Basically: Harder suspension necessitates lower profile tires. The Bridgestones have good longevity and heat up fast in the dry for excellent grip. They could be better in the wet, and they are slightly noisy. I got 185/60's on a 14" rim
Last time I was at the flea market/trash & treasure, I saw some Yokohama 185/55 in a 14" size... looked rather cool... Once I polish & paint the zender 15" rims I got, I will get 195/50 tyres. Always remember: Rev it till it blows, then back off a bit... Zenkis - Orange, Red/Black, Silver/Black, Maroon/Blue Koukis - Red, Silver/Gray, |
