APEXi SAFCII on gZe???
Hi, most of you know my set-up:

Not if you are not going to do any serious tuning...
If you really want to make an improvement, first drop some euro's on a wide-band lambda setup and deduce your fueling needs from measurements not gut-feeling.. If you want to tune your ignition maps, then you really can't go without an exhaust temp probe and knock-pickup. Once you know exactly what you want to do fueling wise, then any system that allows you to do that is just fine..But just adding them blindly is probably a waste of money. PS: Look out for a lambda unit with datalogging capabilities..at least map+rpm+lambda. Send me the logs and I can calculate the exact percentages that you need to change your fuel by and give you a printout of your volumetric efficiency map. for example is one of the cheaper wideband controllers, you can hook it up to a standalone ECU, and you can also do some datalogging with a laptop (it comes with a cable for that). Dont know how you would get the rpm logged though. It's probably a lot easier when you can datalog through a programmable engine management. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Excuse me, but isnt the safc that changes the signals going to the ECU so you can djust the fuel dutty circle according to your needs?

Yes, but to adjust the fuel to your needs, you need to know what your needs are! Not just yoggle a button at random.

Cant I just meassure the mixture once, before I programm the safc??

No, the point is that to get a good picture of what your fuel mixture is like before you go adjusting it, you need to do some wideband O2 measuring.
Then you know exactly where the engine leans out/runs too rich, so you can fiddle with the SAFC to compensate. Then you can test the results of your endeavours using the wideband O2 again. Using wideband permanently is offcourse very nice, but requires a standalone controller, which you dont have. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Its like having a fuel/oil pressure gauge in the car..a necesary precaution. If you plan to run high boost that is..Other engines can run lean for quite a while, only displaying poor performance..higher tuned cars tend to go boom..
