Alu thick core radiator fitment
Hi guys,
A few years ago 2014 I bought a thick core ae86 radiator here via the forum; it looks at least excactly like a Mishimoto one. After all those year, stored, I finaly want to install it Height and width look OK but, it is not a direct fit. As it seems, I need to extend the lower mounting points by 45-50mm due the thicker core. Is that a general issue with thicker core rads? or my bad luck? iff the botem would be 45-50 mm more inward, it would be a perfect fit, when I want to use the lower original mounts, i need to start cutting, and the rad would be tipped over to the back a bit. It looks a lot like this one:

Looks like it yes.
it interferes as in the third picture, on the sides of the front frame left and right, and will interfere almost all the height. Gtsi-R "Trust me, I was an engineer" "straight lines are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers" |

Best thing to do would be to find someone handy with a TIG welder in that case.. better to change the radiator than the chassis (with parts compatibility in mind).
If you read the comments on this youtube ad I found you'll see you're not the first one to run into problems with this radiator model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZy_3W_loxM FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
