Best setup for drifting...
I have exactly the same opinion as Ivan.
If you really want to spend your money start by chassis / drivetrain; it's where you need the most an upgrade for drifting. Small wheels / tyres + 3 bar (~43psi) on the rear tyres also help a lot for starting drifting  |

lots of low torgue on 4agze, should be more helpful to start drifting.
mine low upgrade 4agze made 159hp from wheels and 270-280newton torgue if remember that correct. STOCK ecu/IC there is some easy hp. 10hp some friends gain on big fmic on those. Then stars to be about 200hp from engine.. |

Best setup for drifting...
Ok everybody - let the hating on me begin no no no just joking...
But em I have been chilling at my fav. garage again and I am probably gonna go with a normal Silvertop 20V engineswap. And a Omex ecu... and Full exhaust line - and maybe if there's some cash left some nice 13 inchers with tires... Its almost the same price if I would do the Diff / Final gear stuff... Then when that's done I am going to invest more time in Dori'ing and then I will also (hope) to save money so I can back my car up buy buying more nice stuff in the future and also upgrading it... The car is in the shop right now because of a stupid dent and returning rust (due to a shitty garage that kinde screwed me). They fixed both my fenders but appears only to be 1 fender they repaired. So now its at my fav. garage getting treated with love and happines and I will see when she's done... (the dent is on my car cuz a dude backed up into it). To be continued... -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

NoHachi Wrote:Mind you, I'm not calling you an idiot just yet, but you're working your way up there  daily driver does NOT = either 20V because you don't have a ready supply of maintenance and repair parts. 250hp is simple.... drop in a small block Ford or Chevy be done with it SERIOUSLY..... 270hp subaru is NOTHING like a 170hp AE86... the AE86 is 4 times as scary!! Have you ever driven a well built "A" series engine??? I've been saying this for over 10 years now... What is it YOU want? You mention 250hp as if it is needed... is it? What do you want to do... post dyno charts, or go drifting... A 4AGE built with a torque band in mind can EASILY fry tires.... I'll let that sink in a bit I'm running a 3.90 open final drive right now... and if I accelerate and change lanes... all I do is light up the inside tire.... now I know that is an open diff, but that is with me not trying, and a 3.90. I can also accelerate to 70mph(112kph) in 2nd gear from a standing start Okami - YOU have to give this all more thought.... Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! We've kinda had that answer somewhere along post 10 :-) If he really wanted to go drifting he would be out there by now. But he's more of a consumer. Which is fine also, another hachi saved from oblivion. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Well yeah... this is just it... I have been thinking for a long time now but at least a week talking with the garage... (+ I am fine with wanting to listen to you but there are sooo many stories out there on the internet and ofcourse I believe you guys first and foremost but if you go to certain 4ag sites you see what people are running for a long time now and its just mindblowing - this is something more easy than all those turbo setups etc.)
We both came to the conclusion that if I would do my 2way diff there + a final gear we would come up on the same price as putting a Silvertop in my car. They are keen on helping me and not making money... They want to help in the 1st place. The shop owner has had a couple of AE's himself and knows what he's doing. We are first gonna take it slow with the build-up and then we will see. Either way - they just want to help me... The garage is : http://speedon.nl I am just really happy that they want to help me and we've talked numerous hours about this upcoming project. Sure I want to drift but it would be nice if I had a little bit more power as well... We've decided to leave the looks as how it is and make it more a drifter than a daily-rider. After all this I am going to some drift days and learn to drift it properly with this setup. But first I need to see my baby again when it comes back from DENT repairs and I really really hope the swap can continue very soon as I can't wait any longer! -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

Bit confused again - diff and r&p should set you back less than 1000€ if you do some smart shopping. Your diff might be still good anyway and if not, as you are still a novice you would do just fine with a MAXGrip rebuildkit from Weirperformance that's 500US$ in parts add another 200 maybe for new bearings if necessary. I doubt you can get a silvertop fitted for that money. Not every part needs to be a overpriced JDM tight solution. Especialy not as a novice. Think some more about it
