Check Engine Light Flashes While Driving
I just converted my car to a japanese MAP setup. Car runs fine except for some weird noises. In addition, while driving, the check engine light blinks on and stays on for 1-2 seconds and turns off. There is no decrease in engine performance or sound. It just blinks and goes off. I do notice that it flashes more frequently when going up and incline. It also happens while driving on level ground so I am not sure what is going on. I checked for engine codes; everything checked out normal. What can this be?

It looks like the Check Engine light is switched to earth by the ECU,
so make sure you don't have an intermittent short to earth in the wire between the dash cluster and the ECU. Thanks guy, I have the manual with all the codes. When I short the connector, it does not flash any codes. I'll check my wiring one more time. I really doubt I have an earth wire short. This only happens when I go up a hill, perhaps there is some wiring around the gas pedal shorting out when I give more gas? Light doesn't come on at WOT.

Ground for the ECU contains some 7-8 wires... It goes from ECU conector (on the passanger side) to the intake manifold UNDER the injector harnes...
Check if that is conected well If you don't get any results from it, make a T conector on one of the vacums on the manifold and put a ordinary boost gauge and check at hat vacuum does the light go on... But I don't think that is of an issue here... Good luck SNO-MO-BIRU project started- CHIRO |
