Gnugfur of Norway! Viking power (56k, go learn russian)
Copied right out of the s-tuningparts.com description
Quote:Ultra Racing Subframe Brace AE86. The Ultra Racing lower arm bar is designed to reduce the flex of the vehicle chassis where it is connected by the lower wishbone of the suspension system, thus to lessen the distortion of the vehicle lower suspension when it is under load, especially during hard conering. It is installed at the lower mounting points between the left end right suspension and the vehicle chassis.Tremendously improving the stiffness at the area where the lower arm is connected to the vehicle chassis. The Ultra Racing lower arm also keeps camber accurate during hard cornering. lower arm = lower control arm. we are talking about the "tension control rods" (tc-rods) and they dont have anything to do with cornering. they just keep the suspension leg at place by making a triangle with the lca and the chassis rail.
yes i browsed through UR-s explaination page and thoes are right but you obviously cant apply all stuff to all cars chassis. yes you can connect your lower control arm mounting points together to strenghten that part of the chassis in theory. but on the 86 i dont think its necessary since there is the subframe which can handle the same job. that thing called front lower bar that thing which mounts to the lca's and the tranny mounts could be good, i dont really know but i dont think the tranny mounting points were designed to bear the flex caused by the front struts. no, not at all. allright, thats my opinion, im finished btw that engine looks really promising! |

I totally agree with your theory. But i wont be crying if this brace doesnt have all that of effect. Looking forward to getting the engine. Im only missing a turbomanifoil for it. Then i'll be ready to start building up the entire car when it arrives. Im most exited about the tranny. It's a 6 speed tranny. Kp62 - 135hp Ae86 - 135hp C32 Laurel - 440hp C32 Laurel - 125hp |

@Lajoosh, the braces "could work". Closing the transmission tunnel is the single biggest theoretical upgrade you can do to an AE86 short of installing a cage. The gearbox mounts straight into the chassis legs, so the connection will be fine.
The front tie rod brace usually does less. It certainly won't hurt anything more then weight, since the tie-rods pivot through their bushings, not their mounts. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I reccommend rear brace inside the cabin to reduce flexing too hatch is a big hole on 3 door! Mine mounts directly to where rear seat backets go. Even without cage it really stiffens the rear significantly! RokuSteady : Shakotan - Tsuraichi - Hippari - Onikyan : 神奈川 様式 |

My main problem is. That i have to build everything as anonymous as possible.
If i have a roll cage, the registration goes out the window the same day as i get pulled over. All of the shiny parts i got and am getting, i have to camuflage, paint black and hide away as good as i can. Since almost nothing's legal in Norway When parts have "Shiny Shiny Go fast" written all over them. Im doomed. So im going to do the same as we did on our turbolaurel. Paint everything black. Heh... nothing that you can compare to our country Slovakia (or Slovak Republic) If you want AE86 it's impossible to register it. All will turn against you because it is a old crap car (in their eyes). Maybe the one thing you can do is to write on international tribunal that you are discrimined at least you can have a good feeling about doing it but i think you will still end with " Go away pal and leave it".
I think the main problem is that there is no information on this cars because of Slovakia was no democratic state before 1990 so nobody imported those cars before so the dealers have no official technical description to the car ( I got pissed 3 times to asking them for help). The other thing is that you need to pass MOT ...that is impossible because just mentioning the build date they just tell you "can't help you go away" ...no matter how shiny the car is you cannot pass. So what i was doing ...well figure it out... i was having 4 AE86 coupes to this time but i am getting older and have more responsibility so my last one coupe is waiting 5 years now in garage waiting just one year to get it registered as Oldtimer... Yeah the only thing that you can do ...so that is how it in our country goes.... 85' AE86 GT coupe lifetime project since 2005 |
