Greek AE86 restoration/modification (pics)
Guys I will not be posting in this thread until I get my car back. Reason is I am very disillusioned, very dissapointed and very pissed off at the same time.
Yesterday night I went to see how it was going at the mechanic. He was still trying to figure out mixture issues. Then he went for a small ride to see how it goes and I went with him. So guess what happened... Whenever the cluch is pressed, there is a loud knocking sound coming from the gearbox. Sounds like shaking a tin can with a few bolts inside. I'm afraid we might have to go back to square 1 with the gearbox, so I feel crushed. Anyway, I'll post pics and any updates whenever I get it back. |

Dorito,
Damn that sucks!! Did he do any work on the gearbox?? Possibly its not as bad as it sounds, also swapping a gearbox is alot easier then swapping an engine, maybe you should just ask around the greek guys to find someone who has a spare gearbox and just swap it out, then take your time to take this gearbox appart. At best you will have your car running very fast, at worse you find out its not the gearbox but then atleast you haven't spent any time disecting the gearbox yet. Anyways, I totally know what you're going through, I had this a couple of times with my DeLorean, we fix one thing, and after a drive or two another thing broke. You sometimes start to wonder where it will end but in the end, you'll be glad you sticked with it and you will drive you car knowing you have fixed it good. Stick with it mate, you are almost there! Dorito86 Wrote:, as the smaller ports may be better up to that mark (higher airflow velocity - Bernoulli effect??), I believe it is Venturi effect? not sure now.. BTW; isn't it funny. I have never seen a project to work right off from the start when put together. It always has to be sumthing.. Anyway i wish you the best, hope you get her up and running soon! Greets, Apolan |

People, the big time has come (and gone)... I GOT MY CAR BACK
Drove off on Friday afternoon. 450kms so far and I have to admit I have not once gone over the 3k revs mark. Not once. But it is extremely tough job containing myself. Now I'm also running out of petrol money. Mechanics really know how to squeeze every last cent off you. I'm extremely happy now, I'm off to drive some more Pics next week! more on the car starting tomorrow! I'm ooooooooooooooooooooof |
