ITB from bike engine ?
Hi all

Is it possible to put some ITB's from bikes, supersport 600ccm class or bigger.

As much as i seen, all "R" bikes have throttle bodies diameter from 38 to 52mm (1000ccm class) so i believe it's totally possible to put them on 4AGE with right adapter.

Since those ITBs are really cheap (50-200€) and i can make adapter plate for free...

What do you say ?
Someone done that allready ?

Yes it is possible:

I know some other people did it as well, but I couldn't find any topic about that. I don't know what problems they encountered and what output it generated...

yeah the Keihin FCR (flat slide carbs) have been a popular method in Japan for years (but expen$ive!) Many drift and circuit cars, notably on the Imamura ICBM AE86 and Team Running-Free cars. I believe used a 41mm throttle diameter.

and just have to add the other half of that feature on Katsuhiro Ueo's even tho it uses AE101 ITB's

What about MAP sensor.

As i understandd, all bikes have MAP on airbox.

Where can i put MAP (and which one) in this combination ?

thanks

Uzelac you shouldn't need a MAP with carbs. rely on simple vacuum and mechanical fuel delivery (as opposed to an EFI setup on ITB's).

MAP measure manifold pressure so between throttle butterflys and intake, not in airbox. If you put the MAP line to the airbox, the ECU would think you were full load all the time airbox is atmospheric pressure.

MAP is quite responsive, better than airflow meters (even tho these are very good these days) problem with MAP on ITB's is that if you go off one throttle you have a very weak erratic pressure pulse.

Aside. Also with aftermarket management ECU you could use alpha-n (which is more responsive), if you are alpha-n tuning you are mapping throttle position TPS vs RPM.

bike carbs larger than 32mm should be adequate for a stock motor. mikuni and weber sides though are 40/44/45mm they're outfitted with 32/34mm chokes from the factory (upgradeable to larger chokes obviously).

the only difference is available intake manifolds. they'll have to be custom fabbed.

i've got several bike carb projects in the oven using varying size carbs and ITBs (w/ megasquirt).

Mate, your posts are real informing but aint' answers on my question Smile. Perhaps i wasn't specific enough, but i'm interested in ITB's with electronic fuel injection and MAP is important in that configuration.
