Ignition lock problems :-S
This morning I had to leave home without the hachi. I accidentally tried to use my moms key on it, and when I then tried starting with the correct key the lock was jammed stuck. I have tried every key I have, and have tried fiddling with the steering lock button, but nothing helped (it was not on the steering lock yet BTW). Frustrated to pieces I borrowed my moms car for the week...while driving past the hachi I thought what the hell I'll give it one last try, and then even the driver side door wouldnt open anymore..I'm frigging irritated...why do none of my locks work today?
Nothing has happened to my keys, both new copies and the original wouldnt work. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Huh??? That's weird.
I once had such a problem with my mitsu (I have three keys because both doors have different locks) but after using a lot of force I managed to get it unstuck... I wouldn't suggest using a lot of force because your key might break: mine was a bit bended afterwards. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

I think I'll take it apart when I get home next friday...not starting is unacceptable for my daily driver. I've had a similar problem before, but then it was the steering lock that was stuck. I doubt the lock is really ruined, this is not the first time I put my moms key in there and it never caused problems before...

I followed up on banpei's advice and used the brute force method. Lucky for me it helped, and my key is not even bent! Bit weird though, my driver side door had the exact same reluctance to open, used the same method on that as well.

I still remember the "DOH" feeling after my key was bended. Lucky enough I managed to get it bent back. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Well I have 2 brandnew copies of the original key that I normally used..the old original key (I only have 1) is about 0.5mm thick due to wear. I would have broken that thing for sure if I had to use it.
