LSD Oil, Necessary?

Hello Again!

I don't mean to spam the forum with questions but I done some research on what diff oil to use and after some digging all I could find where people saying you absolutely have to use LSD oil and others who just recommended a decent diff oil?

I wanted to know because the coupe should finally be getting back on the road tomorrow and during its time off it had a slight diff oil leak which I have sorted, I want to replace the oil just incase the temptation to give it a bit of sideways action gets too great, I want to be confident that I'm not destroying the diff! The person who sold it to me said he suspected it to be a TRD 2 way as it doesn't clunk at low speeds, I don't know if that means anything but its defiantly a LSD. What do you recommend and is there anywhere like Euro car parts who sell it off the the shelf so I can pick it up as soon as?

An LSD oil !
If you use a non LSD oil you will make your LSD useless (ineffective) and worse, you will kill the discs inside !

Motul 90PA/ Castrol SAF-XA or any other LSD oil.

if not, you can use regular final gear oil, 80w or something

Except for the LSD manufacturers that sell re-packaged stuff with their name on it, there is no such thing as an LSD oil. There's gear oil for manual trans & steering boxes and gear oil suitable for Hypoid gears & LSDs.
There are also aftermarket additives to help out the clutch plates slippage & stop chatter for LSDs of that type design.
Any popular brand with GL4 or 5 spec will do, just like the factory shop manual says, even though the WWW has many personal testimony's about their choice being wonderful and all others being shit.

Any motor shop wil sell off the shelf, as above some sell additives for lsd.
The best thing is to get shit loads in there, overfill if possible

If you want prolong the life of the LSD use this additive with a good lsd spec oil. Check your local options the plastic bottle will have some instructions on the back that defines if you can use the oil for that purpose.
