LSD problem
Since I start to drive my Hachi, I noticed one problem.
In left curve, I can drift as much as I want, it is not problem to start, jus a little to much pover, and both whells are spining, and car goes sideways.
BUT, in right curve, I do the same thing, but only right wheel spins, an left i standing. I try to drift at place, you know, front end is standing almost still, and rear is going around, and, when I try to the left, all is ok.
When I try to the right, sometimes I can, sometimes I can't do this.

I use Gulf LSD oil, same as Zax.

Is my LSD worn, or what?
Diff has, as I think about 280000 km.

Lift the car from the ground and spin one of the wheels. If the other aint moving the LSD is dead.

I had the exact same problem as you and my LSD died on me.

Before, I put on this diff, me and Zax try to rotatr wheels in diferent directions, and it was not poissible. Both whels rotate in same direction.
Since that I drowe maybe 1500 km, gently, becouce engine was not running for two years.

Now I don't understad.

Kas, you cannot test the LSD just turning the weels... Remember that its the propeller shaft that turns the wheels. To "manually" test the diff, you have to turn the propeller shaft and get somebody to lock-up on of the tires. If the other just turns, the LSD is worn... Ofcourse the diff hasnt got 100% LSD, but its the way to test it. You cant just turn one wheel and expect the other to provide force.

LSD problem
I had exactly the same problem in December when i attended the indoor driftshow.

the only thing i have done yet - to fix this - is that i have changed the diff oil twice - first time was to totall get rid of the old diff-oil
this first change was just for a few kilometers.
been working great since the second oil switch.
& my diff has close to 300 000 kms on it

I´m sorry sir, your planet has been sceduled for destruction
in favor of an intergalactic highway -Thank you

I had exactly the same problem before I did LSD rebuild. Order rebuild kit and rebuild your LSD. You will enjoy drifting in both sides. You will feel like a king!

Fun is not the straight line!

When I lift up rear end, and run the engine, both wheels must be running, or maybe not?

Today, I bought 2 liters of Valvoline gear oil, 75W90, semisintetic, for LSD diferentials, drain out some Gulf mineral LSD oil, and fill it in.
After I change oil, I lift up rear end, run engine, and wihtout any loads, both wheels are spinning.
Try to drift in both sides, and everything is OK.

Thanks Kris, You save to me xxx euros.

Q: Is semisintetic oil good for AE 86 LSD's?
